career aspirations

i was asked the other day what i wanna be... i thought for sooo long... not cuz i didn't know what to say... but cuz i didn't know what "investment banker" is in Vietnamese o_O anyone?

anyway, i realize my career aspiration changes quite often... like how i wanted to become a doctor in primary school and only changed my mind when i knew i had no affinity for blood... then i dreamt of the day when i would put on the police uniform like my dad =)

things changed again as i went to S'pore... becoming an English teacher was pretty thrilling (to think i'm not patient) hahaha... but perhaps my greatest desire was to come back from Switzerland and manage Intercontinental before joining Vietnam's Rex and making it an international brand (wasn't ambitious enough to think about establishing my own chain, though i thought of a brand name) =)

then all of a sudden i was swept off my feet in the thought of reading law at NUS... i had little intention of practising law though... simply wanted to get into the economics and law double degree so that i could train as an economist and mixing with interesting people in the law faculty =)

and i said no when asked if i'd wanna go to Switzerland... despite the discriminative rejection from NUS... despite my huge interest in becoming a hotel manager... i would've said yes were hotel administration courses 2 instead of 4 years long and were my life aspiration to create a world renown hotel group =)

so yeah, i'm in SMU reading economics and political science (soon soon, yay!)... that gives me more scope in a world that i feel needs flexibility and multi disciplinary knowledge (wow) =) but more importantly, what i'm doing orientates me in the direction i want; to earn good money while enjoying my work and to become a politician (or at least a thinker)...

but first, i would be committed to STB for some good 4 years, now and after!

it's so exciting to watch as the drama of life unfolds =)
